The Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS) has an opening for a digital media marketing specialist who will develop and implement digital communications and marketing-related strategies designed to enhance the RGS media presence, member engagement, organizational marketing, fundraising and awareness of the RGS mission of preserving our sporting traditions by creating healthy forests for ruffed grouse, American woodcock and other wildlife. This position reports to the Director of Communications.

Job Responsibilities

The digital media marketing specialist will develop and manage content consistent with the RGS mission and deliver this content through all media channels.

We are looking for a smart, passionate and experienced professional who wants to be part of an innovative team in a rapidly evolving industry. The candidate should be analytically minded with a knowledge and passion for the outdoors.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Working with RGS staff to develop, manage and implement digital media content through web, social media, email, press release and video.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to market RGS new member campaigns, membership communications, promotions and events.
  • Developing strategies based upon measurable analytics.
  • Using your analytical mindset, you will be responsible for the, execution, performance and reporting of the paid digital campaigns across multiple platforms (Facebook, Twitter, DSPs, YouTube, etc.)
  • You will act as the paid social expert within the organization responsible for performance, optimization, providing insights into the best strategies and tactics to achieve specified objectives through social media

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications or related field
  • Team player with interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Technical ability to manage web, email and social media applications (Facebook, YouTube, Linkedin, Instagram, Twitter, blogs, etc.)
  • Must be passionate about social media and the technologies used to support online and/or mobile advertising operations.
  • MUST love and be curious about data analytics and how that affects the bottom line
  • Website programming and design skills are a plus
  • Ability to develop and implement marketing strategies and plans intended to enhance media presence, member engagement and public education
  • Ability to develop strategies from measurable analytics
  • Ability to work with numerous staff to develop and deliver content
  • Writing and copyediting experience
  • Photography and photo-editing experience
  • Ability to understand and communicate the RGS mission including the benefits of scientific forest management and hunting-related initiatives
  • Well versed in the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated, but also can work well in a team
  • Ability to proactively organize daily tasks and make your own to-do list
  • Keen problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Enthusiasm for the future of brand advertising on the web and building that future with us
