Editor/Special Projects Designer
Non-profit wildlife conservation organization is seeking a self-motivated outdoor editor and copywriter to edit and publish a quarterly 80-page magazine. Duties include scheduling freelance writers, editing, writing copy as needed, working with designer, overseeing ad sales and print process.

Editor is also responsible for writing, editing and designing a variety of special projects, including brochures, annual reports, ads and flyers.

The ideal candidate must work well independently and with coworkers in the same office and with remote staff workers. The position requires a highly-organized individual comfortable with setting deadlines and meeting them. It also requires supervision of many freelancers and contractors. The special projects require a meticulous, yet creative, problem-solving individual to design and write copy for a variety of projects each year.

This full-time position is based in the Pittsburgh area and includes excellent health benefits, 403b retirement plan and life insurance.

Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or related field, 2-3 years experience copywriting and editing experience – preferably in a magazine setting. Familiarity with AP guidelines a must.  Intermediate graphic design skills greatly preferred – especially in Quark, InDesign and Photoshop. Publishing experience a plus. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Experience in conservation and hunting is a plus.
