Ensuring healthy woodlands and thriving populations of forest wildlife in the years to come is no easy task. To meet the challenges of today and tomorrow, we must promote initiatives that create healthy and diverse forests. The Ruffed Grouse Society concentrates exclusively on the creation and maintenance of young-forest habitat.
Our mission grows increasely more important as young forest cover continues to be replaced by alternative land uses-or by a maturing of forest lands. Today, far too little forest habitat is made up of the young, vigorous growth where wildlife, such as the Ruffed Grouse, American Woodcock, and many songbirds flourish.
