Petition to Oppose Airline Transport Ban

The Ruffed Grouse Society and other wildlife conservation organizations across America are notifying our members of the opportunity to speak out in support of our hunting heritage. You have no doubt heard of the recent killing of a lion called Cecil in Zimbabwe.  The appropriate and needed response to this event is to gather the facts and determine whether or not the killing was indeed illegal.  If it was, the individuals responsible should be prosecuted.

However, the knee-jerk reaction from several major airlines to ban the transport of some legally harvested game species is inappropriate.

Ruffed Grouse Society members should ask themselves “what’s next”?  Might the airlines next decide to ban the transport of dogs considered to be hunting breeds, or perhaps the transport of any firearm?  What impact might these types of decisions have on the ability of sportsmen and women to pursue their passion?

Below is a link to an online petition launched by the Houston Safari Club urging airlines to use some common sense rather than threaten hunters and hunting worldwide.

The Ruffed Grouse Society urges our members to review this petition and consider lending their voice in support of the future of wildlife conservation.

Thanks for your time.
